Come join us as the Union Parish Library unveils the newest Union Parish storywalk at the walking trail in Spearsville. This storywalk is the inspiration of author Marianne Berkes and features a factual, but fun book about life on the farm!
NOTE: While this event does strongly encourage social distancing, we do believe that being outdoors families can still come and walk the trail, read the book together, pose for photos with our tractor backdrop and take home fun farm activities and farm animal bubble sets all while maintaining a safe distance from others!
The storywalk will be a permanent addition to the Spearsville park donated by the Union Parish Library and can be enjoyed by families year-round! The first storywalk was placed at the Kid’s Trail at the Lake D’Arbonne State Park in May 2020. The goal of this project is to place a new storywalk in each part of our parish making Union Parish the first parish to have an entire map of storywalks!
About the Book
Learning becomes fun with this book about animals on the farm. In Over on the Farm, amazing artwork and rhyming text sung to the tune of “Over in the meadow” will inspire children in classrooms and at home to appreciate the world around us!
Welcome to the farm, where pigs roll, goats nibble, horses gallop, hens peck, and turkeys strut! Count, clap, and sing along to the classic tune of “Over in the Meadow” while learning about life on a classic farm. This book is one of Marianne’s own favorites and is a delight for children and adults alike. Cathy’s illustrations are charming. Kids love counting books, too! And as usual, Marianne offers up a potpourri of valuable information about farm animals and suggestions for child-friendly activities.
